“Metalworker Helps Free Danny Kaye”

The Spokesman-Review – Feb. 20, 1955

HOLLYWOOD (AP) – [First line unintelligible]

It takes a full hour each morning for Danny Kaye to be tucked into the 175-pound tin tuxedo he uses in some fierce jousting sequences for “The Court Jester” and almost as long to get him out of the steely trap.

A horrible thing happened this week when the studio’s boss armorer was stricken with a virus infection in mid-afternoon and was hurried home.

Two hours after quitting time with cast and crew gone, Danny was still clanging around the stage hoping for someone to turn up with the releasing combination. Relief was finally rushed over: A studio metal worker armed with cold chisels.
