Everything was cooking at Danny Kaye’s Beverly Hills mansion the other night.

Three of France’s most famed chefs arrived to present him with their country’s top culinary award, “Les Meilleurs Ouvriers de France.” Only 26 chefs have received this award since it was established in 1924.

The chefs who conferred the honor were Paul Bocuse of the restaurant of that name in Lyons, Jean Troisgros of Les Freres Troisgros in Roanne and Roger Verge of Le Moulin de Mougins in Cannes.

Danny has the only private Chinese kitchen in the world with a Michelin three-star rating for outstanding cuisine.

He had a special Chinese pavilion in his house equipped with an authentic Chinese kitchen built in 1963, and can cook anything there except chow mein, which he hates.

Among those who have dined on Danny Kaye’s 10-course dinners are Prince Philip, Henry Kissinger, Cary Grant and Rudolf Nureyev.
