“Danny Kaye Films World’s Tots”

Oxnard Press-Courier – June 5, 1956

UNITED NATIONS, N.Y. – (AP) – Danny Kaye, the United Nations’ lone “ambassador,” came home yesterday from a 32,000-mile trip with enough movie film about the world’s children to run 37 hours.

At a news conference, he explained plans to cut the 200,000 feet of film taken during his 7-week jaunt to a 90-minute presentation to be shown Edward R. Murrow’s “See It Now” program.

Kaye, the comedian who has steadfastly refused the blandishments of television, made a swing through Europe, the Mediterranean countries, the Middle East and Africa with 2 television cameras and sound crews to film the story of the U.N. Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

It was Kaye’s second tour of this sort. On his first, he traveled to the Far East and produced a 20-minute color feature exhibited by Paramount Pictures with all proceeds given to UNICEF.
