HOLLYWOOD – For years Danny Kaye has been giving his services away for free – to scores of charities, including UNICEF, Musicians’ Pension Funds, the Israeli Symphony Young Orchestra, etc. In other words, Danny has raised more than $10 million in the past three years for charity. It’s reasonable, therefore, that he should now earn some money for Danny Kaye – which is exactly what he’s doing via his one-man concert tour around this country and Canada. His appearances have set records in Montreal and Toronto, and Danny will follow these up with visits to Buffalo, Washington and Boston. Danny will gross almost two million dollars on the 10-week tour and the promoters already are begging him to extend it for an additional ten weeks.

Danny is like a kid these days and the thing that excites him most (aside from cooking a Chinese dinner for some friends) is his first movie in five years, “The Madwoman of Chaillot,” which he recently finished filming in Europe. He plays a very sympathetic and dramatic role – that of the ragpicker – and Commonwealth United which produced “The Madwoman of Chaillot,” is rushing the film out in December so Danny can qualify for this year’s Oscar sweepstakes.
