“O.K. This Kaye”
The Milwaukee Journal – Sep. 27, 1945

A short review, but a good one! The last line is my personal favorite.

Just a reminder that Danny Kaye will air the first of his fall program series from Chicago Friday, 9:30 p.m., WBBM-WISN, CBS. Incidentally, for his Milwaukee visit (on behalf of the Community War Fund drive), the carrot topped wit of stage, screen and radio, appeared in suit of matched trousers and coat, an almost unheard of combination out in Hollywood. Queried about his unusual garb, he sallied, “Well, may be they wouldn’t match if I stepped into the direct rays of the sun!”
As quiet as a bank teller when he chooses to be, Danny really opened up in his after luncheon speech (for the press and city officials). With his talent, anything he said, came out as funny. Not for what he said, understand, but for the way he put it across with a shrug, a lifted eyebrow, a bellowing bark.
The lad’s not just an average comedian, he’s an actor who knows how to hold his audience. In fact, a radio announcer present, who used to be quite active in the Haresfoot club in his Wisconsin campus days, said “Every last acting technique we never did master in whatever the role, Danny Kaye has down pat and uses any way he chooses.”
That’s it, then, this boy Kaye is good and who’s to blame him if he knows it.
